Beautiful fall day. Weather was crisp and clean. Although I was harassed by a rude squirrel. I actually saw the same squirrel on the return trip – ran across my path again. I guess when you have shit to do you can’t let anyone get in your way.
I biked with MapMyRide!
Distance: 11.52mi,
time: 01:02:54
pace: 5:28min/mi
speed: 10.99mi/h.
To The Other Door and back tonight. I am getting spoiled by this nice weather!!!! No picture tonight since it gets dark at 4pm now. As long as the weather stays this nice I’ll take it!
Didn’t have a lot of time today but wanted to get in a ride while this beautiful weather lasts! Decided to do a short ride but got as fast as I could. You can see I slow down as I go but I’m still pretty proud of myself. Definitely going to work on improving that time!
After a cold and rainy Halloween the first day of November was perfect! Sunny 65* with blue skies and a slight breeze. Halfway through the ride I stopped at this lake and just sat and listened to the waves lap at the shore. It was so serene. The rest of the ride was beautiful as well – wind through the trees rustling the leaves as the seasons change – overall just a really beautiful and relaxing ride.
Its that time of year when the leaves are changing colors and I was really excited to ride today to see it. It was a beautiful ride!!
I also did a bit of exploring and took a new way home. It wasn’t as nice since it was mostly along the road but the trail did go farther west so I am excited to explore that in the future. While on the way home I passed this adorable church. I think its very cute with it’s princess turrets.
Overall a little slower today – a bit because I was exploring, a bit cause I haven’t ridden in a while, and a bit cause I got new biking pants. They are very warm (they are my winter pants) but they were also a bit tight so it was weird to get used to.
We did it! Brent and I rode in the Apple Cider Century ride and did 50 miles in a little over 4 hours. That’s an average speed of 12.5 miles and hour. It was a great ride – good pace, not too exhausting and only a little soreness in my neck and shoulders the next day. Whether was a bit cool and overcast but perfect for a ride.
My top speed was 29.2 MPH! I am not sure how that compares to normal but it sounds impressive! I had a lot of fun and am definitely looking forward to next time!
Before the race – nervous and excited…
During the ride, a bit of the nice scenery and my riding buddy
Some chickens I noticed while riding. Excuse my silliness, I think the exhaustion was taking over 🙂
Crossing the finish line!!!!!!
After the race – tired and sweaty but pretty proud of myself!
While everyone else is out looking for Pumpkin Spice Lattes, I am trying to find Starbucks that still have the peach syrup from summer so I can get Peach Green Tea Lemonades. Starbucks is discontinueing the flavor for the season so not only does this signal the end of PGTL but also summer! Noooo!
Also took a bike ride tonight but again the end of summer got me. Wanted to do 20 miles and left at about 6:15 pm. Thought I would have plenty of time but nope. Even though a few days ago the sun sets around 8pm now its down around 7pm. So I had probably my faster ride ever as I raced home in the dark trying not to assign evil monsters to every sound I heard in the forest.
There was one point where I was coming up to a bridge and thought to stop a rest a bit. When I reached the bridge though I saw a lone figure learning against the railing in the dark. They did not make any movement when I entered the bridge. I’ve seen enough movies to know not to stop and that was my fastest mile all night and I tried to ride away while keeping an eye behind me so I didn’t become a zombie.
That’s me, the house that gives out full sized candy bars for Halloween. Not only full sized but king sized!! A lot of planning goes into it but I love the look on a toddler’s face when they get a Kit Kat bar that is bigger than their head! Truly epic!
We keep a spreadsheet so we know how much candy to buy, what is popular, how much we ate, etc. It’s important because an 8 year old has no qualms telling you Snickers are disgusting and can she please have something else. We also have to have enough extras for the “Cheaters” usually teens who come back a few times. If I catch them I call them out, but honestly all the kids look the same to me so sometimes I miss the repeats 🙂
So let the festivities begin and if you’re in the neighborhood stop on by!!
Fall season is here (sadly) but I am making the most of it. I have already had a pumpkin pie and yesterday I had some acorn squash for dinner. Today I made artichokes – you jelly yet?
